The UN has decided it needs about $86 billion per year to not fight global warming, but to help the poor adapt. Hm, I am not a smart man, but I already have the federal, state, and local government (my property tax went up over 15% this year)taxing my rear end off...why should I pay one penny to these guys? Don't get me wrong, I care about the world's poor and give a portion of my income to helping the poor, so don't think I just hate the poor.

Does nobody else just see this as a ploy to get tax dollars from the US and other wealthier nations? As I'm writing this I have so many thoughts running through my head, I don't know if this post will make much sense or not. To put it simply, I hate taxes in any way, shape, or form. The US government ran for years without tax support, and politicians actually earned their money not by being politicians, but by actually working! Today that isn't true. Our government has to protect us from taxation by outside sources, especially the UN. Let's be honest here, who would trust the UN? Does Oil for food ring a bell? Now they want $86 billion a year from the wealthier countries of the world to help people adjust to a problem that really hasn't been scientifically proven? I still haven't bought into global warming, I have seen too much conflicting data. Even though I'm sure Al Gore is an intelligent man (he did invent the internet you know), I still don't trust him.

All this global warming stuff is fishy to me anyway. Could it all just be a natural cycle anyway? Is the earth really warming anyway? And if it is warming, how in the world did this UN Development Program figure out that it would take $86 billion a year to help people adjust? I mean honestly, how hard is it to tell people to put shorts on if they're hot? $86 billion divided by the 6 billion global population comes out to around $12 a person. Does that mean I can get $12 for every person I tell to put shorts on if they're hot?? I'd take that job, sounds pretty easy. A Wal-Mart greeter could make a killing doing that.

The real kicker for me though is the quote "We're suggesting 1.6 percent of (global) GDP - still very affordable." Um, still very affordable?? Are you trying to sell me a car? 1.6% of GLOBAL GDP?? That's affordable? How about you give back 1.6% of global GDP for suggesting a ridiculous scam designed at getting at the US taxpayer??

I don't know if this post made much sense, but I read this article and had to make a comment.

Illegal Immigration

This is a hilarious bit from Glenn Beck about illegal immigration. Thanks Hillary!

So you all HAVE to read this article. So Hillary Clinton thinks that every baby should have a $5,000 savings bond for college or a new home. Hmm, on the surface that sounds quite appealing, especially because babies are so cute, which Hillary Clinton is not. Who wouldn't want a baby to have 5 g's? Really on the surface that is a concept that appeals to our better nature of helping out those who are in need, and that is a good thing. BUT, let's get down to the nitty gritty of it all.

According to the article, approximately 4 million babies are born in the USA every year. So let's do some simple arithmetic. 4 million x 5,000=a whole lot...how much? 20,000,000,000! 20 billion!!! Holy smokes, isn't that the GDP of Guam or something? Maybe it was the GDP of Micronesia...I can't remember. Anyway, where is all that money going to come from? I'll give you 301,139,947 guesses and if any of those guesses included any US citizens, then you are correct! This is another ploy to tax the snot out of the american taxpayer. How could it possibly work? I HATE taxes, but I pay them not because its my patriotic duty to, I pay taxes because I am a law-abiding citizen. If there is a lawful way to avoid paying taxes, then I will take it.

The other problem with this proposed idea is that it will create another level of entitlement in the US. People need to get it through their skulls that they are NOT entitled to anything just by being a US citizen! That is a ridiculous notion. Just because you are a baby you don't deserve 5 grand. Sure it would be nice, but isn't that the responsibility of the parents and not the government? I would say it is.

Fun Spin on Hockey & Immigration

My sister sent me a way funny video. I guess the newest thing now is stop motion video. Can't say that I know a ton about it, but they apparently take pictures of different parts of a motion and put them together to create that motion frame by frame. Basically, this po-dunk town in Pennsylvania made a law saying that if you hired an illegal immigrant or rented a property to them, you would be fined. Sounds logical enough to me, you are aiding someone who is committing a crime by merely being here in the United States. I always though aiding a fugitive was against the law, but what do I know? Anyway, a federal judge has ruled that the City can't enforce that ordinance because it violates federal law. So, its ok to aid a fugitive? So next time a bank robber asks you for a ride after robbing a bank you can say yes? Give me a break, this judge is ridiculous. There is no reason to not have a law like this town tried to implement, it would slow the influx of illegal immigrants and provide penalties who are keeping them here by providing jobs for them. Don't get me wrong...I love the hispanic people and lived for two years in South America and absolutely love their culture. I just want people to come in through the front door and not sneak in through the back. Here's the article.

http://www.reuters.com/article/domesticNews/idUSN2645989120070726?feedType=RSS&rpc=22&sp=true

The Pursuit of Happyness

Janell and I watched The Pursuit of Happyness probably a month or so ago and really enjoyed it. The show isn't really that bad, there's some pretty interesting stuff in it. The real standout is this dude named Cas Haley. He is phenomenal and has huge potential. I'd love to be able to play the guitar and sing like this guy does. I've posted a video of his audition below. He is from the group Woodbelly, so you can go to www.myspace.com/woodbelly to listen to more of his stuff or search on youtube for Woodbelly. Its only like 6 questions, so I don't know that its completely comprehensive, but I turned out to be a Libertarian! Mercy. This whole time I thought I was leaning more to the right than anything. To be honest I don't know all that much about Libertarians, but I think I need to read into them a bit more. Here's the link to take the quiz if you're interested:

http://www.theadvocates.org/quiz.html

Here are my results:

ACCORDING TO YOUR ANSWERS,

The political group that
agrees with you most is...

LIBERTARIAN

LIBERTARIANS support maximum liberty in both personal and

economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one

that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence.

Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose

government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate

diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties.

The RED DOT on the Chart shows where you fit on the political map.

Your PERSONAL issues Score is 60%.
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 80%.
(Please note: Scores falling on the Centrist border are counted as Centrist.)

Everybody should take it and let me know how they end up!

Trying to see if I can get these videos to work

This is Mitch Hedberg, absolutely hilarious!

Much ado

It has been awhile since I have written in this thing.
